Our Story
Hi there!
I’m Adrianna, founder of Merry Time Music Co. Welcome to our little corner of the internet.
Merry Time Music Co.’s story begins in the summer of 1994 on the banks of the Ottawa River, where a shy bespectacled four-year old (that’s me!) was up way past her bedtime. I stood mesmerised by the scene in front of me, where dozens of fiddlers gathered round an old upright piano laughing and playing tune after tune. Bows were flying as a group of kids hopped onto a raised wooden platform and started to step dance. The air was buzzing with joyful music making. It was pure magic, and I was hooked. I started playing the fiddle that year, and have been chasing the magic ever since.
As much as I wish I could bottle up that formative experience and gift it to each one of you, I’ve come to realize that the magic looks different for everyone. A memory of your grandfather playing guitar after family supper, the first time you heard your favourite band live, or singing songs around a campfire with friends …
